About Karamoja Livestock enhancement Project

Project Goal: To contribute to economic security of agro-pastoralist communities in Karamoja

Overall Objective: Food and economic security of agro-pastoralist communities has improved through optimization of livestock production and livelihoods diversification in Karamoja.

Established & trained 15 VICOBA groups on Savings and Credit concepts, IGAs dev’t, business & record keeping Mgt

3 LMA association of Lokolimith, Rupa & Nangataret formed & trained on marketing, business skills, IGA dev’t and Record keeping

Supported and strengthened Natural Resource Management committees through trainings and facilitating cross border peace dialogues on peaceful natural resource sharing

Supported gov’t in enforcement of laws and monitoring of Livestock diseases quarantines to ease reduction of extremely contagious and infectious viral trans-boundary animal diseases.

Provided initial grants to groups to boost up their income generating activities and preparing them as private sector

Linked of groups to formal microfinance credit and Government institutions to uplift their business and IGA ownership
