About Climate Change, Adaptation and Mitigation Project

Project Goal:
To lobby and advocate for increased leaders and development actor’s awareness and adequate responses to climate change impact

Overall Objective: Targeted rural communities in Moroto district are knowledgeable on the causes, effects, adaptation and mitigation strategies of climate change

Key Action Points

Piloted small scale irrigation along Kakingol-Nakiloro river.

Formed and strengthened five cereal banking groups in Rupa and Nadunget sub-counties

Supported seven VSLA group

Supported two Community Animal Health Workers Associations (CAHWs)

Piloted rain water harvesting techniques in two institutions (Rupa H/II and Lokeriaut Primary school) by providing and installing two 20,000 litre tanks per each institutions.

Supported and strengthened the Livestock Marketing Associations

Piloted and promoted the energy saving technologies in Nadunget and Rupa

Community members of Kakingol and Nakiloro received skills & knowledge through trainings, provision of tridal and flexi pumps and vegetable seeds

Constructed four cereal banking stores for beneficiaries cereals and trained beneficiaries on cereal banking practices, post-harvest handling strategies and business skills

Trained VSLA groups on methodology and concepts, and provision of the VSLA starter kits and grants to support development of IGAs.

Trainings conducted on animal health management practices, construction of a drug shop outlet and provision of animal drugs starter kit.

4 rain water harvesting tanks were provided and installed in two institutions.

Conducted trainings on business skills, record keeping/management and VSLA kits provided

60 households of Nangorikipi and Lokaal villages and about 400 energy saving stoves were made and used by the community members at their households
